Snoring affects at least 70% of men and 40% of women over 35yrs of age. It can affect you physically and socially.
There are many anti-snoring products on the market ranging from throat sprays to nasal strips that hold your nostrils open. Generally, snoring is caused by a narrowing of the airways where the flow of air through the throat becomes restricted and produces that sound known as 'snoring'.
Slumber Guard uses the same principles that Doctors use in order to stop snoring. The big difference is that the professional products cost more that $1,000 to supply and fit. You can now get that very same effect for only $29.95.
Slumber Guard Anti-snoring Device - What is it?
The Slumber Guard is a thermoplastic (boil and mould) Mandibular Advancement Device that the snorer heats and then moulds to provide a custom fit, in order to hold the snorer's lower jaw in a forward extended position.
This moves the base of the tongue away from the back of the airway and the soft palate, removing the obstruction and restoring snore-free breathing.
Also included is a handy hard plastic carry case - great for keeping your Slumber Guard clean and protected.
The Slumber Guard is an easy, comfortable and affordable solution to snoring.
Does the Slumber Guard really work?
Yes! Doctors actually prescribe a professionally made device that uses exactly the same principles as Slumber Guard. However the cost of that device can be more than $1,000! Slumber Guard is a cheaper, faster alternative.
What if the Slumber Guard doesn't stop my snoring?
Some people who show snoring symptoms may have a more serious condition known as Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). If you still show snoring symptoms whilst using the Slumber Guard, we strongly recommmend that you see your Doctor, and recommend that you see a Sleep Specialist.
Will it fix my OSA?
There is some evidence showing Mandibular Advancement Therapy can be helpful for some OSA sufferers. However, this DOES NOT mean that this Therapy will be beneficial for ALL sufferers. The Slumber Guard is NOT a DIY treatment for OSA, because of the following facts : (1) It is very difficult for an OSA sufferer to determine the effectiveness of treatment themselves. (2) OSA is a very serious condition which will have serious consequences for the sufferer (possibly including death) if it is not adequately treated. If you KNOW that you suffer from OSA please DO NOT purchase a Slumber Guard without first discussing it with your doctor. Most doctors are aware of Mandibular Advancement Therapy.
It didn't stop my snoring - what should I do?
IF SYMPTOMS PERSIST - SEE YOUR DOCTOR. Snoring can be a sign of Obstructive Sleep Apnea, which is a serious condition. If Slumber Guard does not stop your snoring, then we STRONGLY recommend that you discuss this with your doctor.
Does it come in different sizes?
The Slumber Guard is a 'one size fits all' device. The material is extremely flexible when it's heated, so it can accommodate a very wide range of mouth sizes.
I have dentures... can I use the Slumber Guard?
Dentures certainly reduce the likelihood of success with the Slumber Guard. There is a reasonable chance it will work if (1) you usually sleep with your dentures in (2) they fit very snugly (ie you could eat a fresh apple with no problems without using a knife at all) (3) your gums are healthy and show no signs of irritation from your dentures (as this will probably get worse when you apply extra forces from the Slumber Guard).
