Eye Q is a combination of the specific omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids required for optimal eye and brain function, delivered in the form of high grade natural oils. We don't use the word 'natural' lightly: in processing and selecting our oils, we ensure that only pure, natural form fatty acids are used. Our main reason for this specification is that many who take eye q are youngsters, and so we believe this makes it even more important that there are no synthetic or artificial elements within the formulation. When we made the formulation, we looked closely at the research showing that fatty acids do play a vital role in the development of vision, co-ordination, learning ability, memory and concentration. To reflect this work, we combined the highest possible natural source of omega-3 EPA, in the form of a particular marine lipid, with omega-3 GLA, provided by first-press virgin evening primrose oil. There is good evidence that this formulation delivers the optimum ratio of fatty acids for eye and brain function. Testimonials from parents, children, in fact any age, have indicated real benefits in mood and concentration. eye q has become the supplement of choice in the UK and leading European markets for anyone with concerns about fatty acid deficiency in learning and behaviour. And the formulation has been scientifically tested, most notably in the ground-breaking Durham schools trial, the most thorough study yet of how fatty acids may benefit in the classroom. Equazen is providing eye q for various other studies, to try and further understand the benefits of fatty acids.Eye Q Hi-EPA Marine Fish Oil and Virgin Evening Primrose Oil is a unique formulation that may help maintain eye and brain function and assist visual fatigue and eye strain.May assist in general wellbeing and alleviating the symptoms of Dyslexia. The EPA ratio is higher in Eye Q.This sets Eye Q apart from other nutritional supplements. The fish oil in Eye Q is sourced from Sardines, Anchovies and Pilchards, which provides the essential for the moment-by-moment regulation of brain function. All evidence now points to EPA as the Omega 3 fatty acid controlling the function of the other fatty acids in the brain and that supplementation of the EPA and DHA combination found in Eye Q is most effective in maintaining eye and brain function, supporting vision, co-ordination, learning ability, memory and concentration.DirectionsAdults and children above 5 years: Take 2 capsules per day with food.Taking eye q for the first time, take 6 capsules per day with food for 12 weeks. These levels of consumption reflect studies which show that it can take about 12 weeks to build up the body's stores of long chain fatty acids. WarningsIf you are taking any medication, always consult your doctor before commencing supplementation. Vitamin supplements should not replace a balanced diet. If symptoms persist consult your doctor. The Durham Schools TrialThe first published results of this ground-breaking double-blind placebo-controlled trial show significant improvements in children with learning and behavioural conditions when taking eye q. The trial, funded by Durham County Council in association with Oxford University, will add to the current debate that nutrition can improve childrens performance in the classroom. The findings were published in the American journal Pediatrics and a second paper in another peer-reviewed journal is in press. The research shows that the natural oils in eye q can have an impact on ADHD similar to that of prescribed stimulant medication. The Durham Schools Trial involved more than 120 children aged 6 -12 years from varying socio-economic backgrounds, who were selected on the basis of a diagnosis of dyspraxia, many with accompanying conditions such as ADHD and dyslexia. Half took eye q and half were on placebo (olive oil), with both participants and researchers blinded to which format they were on. After 3 months, the group on active treatment made highly significant improvements in all key Global behavioural scales, which include the three diagnostic features of ADHD: inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity. The results in Pediatrics showed that some 40% of the children made dramatic improvements in reading and spelling. There has been a lot of interest in this study because of it's groundbreaking nature. This randomised, double-blind placebo-controlled trial is the most comprehensive and far-reaching study ever conducted into the relationship between fatty acids and specific learning conditions. 'For some of the children on the trial, we saw dramatic improvements in reading ability; as much as four or five years in some cases,' explained Dr Madeleine Portwood, the senior educational psychologist at the Durham LEA who ran the trial. 'In terms of their handwriting, we also saw marked differences. Their confidence and self-esteem also improved. And many of the children who were previously excitable and hyperactive found themselves able to concentrate.'
